Zimmerli of Switzerland.
Zimmerli Textil in Aarburg in Switzerland, established in 1871, is the most famous of the renowned Swiss fine knitting mills. The goods produced in Aarburg are truly inimitable because Zimmerli still produces on machines that were built for their particular requirements. Only the finest, long-staple Egyptian Mako cotton is used. Unusual for knitwear the cotton is processed into tightly twisted yarn and washed twice in caustic soda (i.e. mercerised). The mercerising not only prevents shrinking but gives the garment a unique sheen and exceptional smooth texture. Zimmerli underwear is extremely elastic lengthways and sideways, without synthetic additives. Accurate checking of the seams, multiple ironing and the final assembly take up one-quarter of the entire production process. Zimmerli selectively delivers their famous and justly praised goods to the best addresses worldwide.
