Hand-Made Knitwear. By Wolkenstricker.
The firm of Wolkenstricker was founded in 1979 to uphold and develop the tradition of knitting and embroidery by hand. Already in the second generation, pattern and model designs are worked up in their idea's workshop. Then each piece is knitted and decorated with free embroidery by hand. The creating process results in an appearance determined by the rhythm of the hand, giving birth to symmetry without monotony.
Upper Bavarian Craftsmanship.
For this cardigan, the knitting is done by hand whereby the various patterns are not arbitrary. They are selected and arranged with an eye to guaranteeing a good fit. For example, the cardigan displays a certain width from the hips to the waist which diminishes toward the breast, merging into a smooth pattern, allowing the garment to flow freely. The piece parts of the rather narrowly cut cardigan are fitted together by hand, providing for the accuracy of fit which is thanks to the structure of the openwork ajour pattern somewhat body-hugging. The neckline is embroidered with a leaf ornamentation. The trunk and sleeves are worked with an intarsia pattern in white and embroidered with stylized flowers in shades of blue and taupe.
