Stegmann Pecora della Roccia Tirolese House Shoes
From the Oldest Tyrolean Sheep Breed. With Cork Latex Footbed. Exclusively for Us.
The thick felt body made from a single piece of undyed wool for these house shoes is shaped in a special procedure to anatomically fit the cork foot bed. The wool comes from the Pecora della Roccia Tirolese or Tiroler Steinschaf, a breed of domestic sheep from the Alps. The cut edge of the house shoe is reinforced with a web trim. The durable sole is made from anti-slip EVA plastic. Only available from Manufactum.
If someone says "Patschen" in Austria, they’re most likely talking about their slippers. Ours come from Gottstein, in Imst, Austria. Since 1926, they have been producing impeccable fulled felt: pure wool fleece, softened in pure mountain spring water exclusively, is then squeezed and beaten in an original ‚hammer‘ fulling machine until it‘s thick enough to be used for house-slippers of this kind of quality. The slippers are then rounded (from a single section of the wool felt), great care being taken to avoid irritating inside projections that are unfortunately quite common when they‘re made by hand. They are then put on a last, dampened, pressed and dried, which gives them their final shape. The slight bulge at the toe makes walking very pleasant, and the pure wool felt ensures a pleasant, constant foot temperature all year round.
