Whether preserved or used as a seasoning, ginger is used a lot in Japanese cuisine. The fine teeth of this grater which is made by a manufacturer in Arita - a city famous for porcelain on the southern-most Japanese island - can be used to make a juicy pulp from the bulb of ginger. The channel running around the edge of the grater collects the liquid which can then be poured from the spout. This receptacle is also suitable for grating raw foods or for cloves of garlic.
