Silver Ring Wound

This wound ring is handcrafted in the Pforzheim studio of jewellery designer Martin Guthmann. First of all, the silver is cast into strands and then drawn through a semicircular profile in several work stages. To do this, the silver strand has to be annealed and cooled several times to keep the silver ductile and prevent it from snapping when drawn. Once the desired shape has been achieved, the semicircular strand is wound to form a ring. The ends are then welded into the inside of the ring and filed and polished.
