Satin and Silk Jewellery Bag
The «Pompadour« is named after the most notorious of French king Louis XVÕs favourites and is used for storing jewellery. It was created in the second half of the 18th Century, reportedly by the Marquise personally, although we do have our doubts about this.
A gem for gems.
This Pompadour is made in Bayreuth from the finest cotton satin with a lining of pure silk. It has 8 small compartments inside which hold small items of jewellery such as rings, earrings and necklaces, and prevent them becoming scratched and entangled. The well in the centre holds pearls, chains and watches. This model - hand-sewn black cotton satin with beige silk, and a cord crafted by one of the last remaining haberdashers in Germany - is exclusive to Manufactum.
