Pear-Tree Circular Knitting Needles
The exquisite pear-wood is steam-processed to give a particularly beautiful shade. All other processes are done by hand, for example the use of brass adapters which are fitted on to the nylon cord and form an ideal joint with the wooden needle ends; the stitches will slip on more easily when you’re knitting with them. The needles are then finished with natural vegetable oils and beeswax. This gives the surface of the wood an unequalled smoothness, making the needles suitable for knitting the finest mohair or silk. They’re temperature neutral: your hands stay warm in winter, cool in summer. We offer these first-class pear-wood circular knitting needles to enthusiast in four different diameters: 4, 5, 6 and 7 mm. The length remains the same at 80 cm.
For Enthusiasts and Collectors. Swiss Pear-tree wood Knitting Needles.
An absolute rarity. The western German firm of Holz & Stein use Swiss pear-wood for these circular knitting needles; the trade-name ‘pear-wood’ covers a multitude of sins, but our knitting needles are the real thing, made of wood from pear-trees from the ‘three countries’ area in south-west Germany (Switzerland, Germany, France). Real pear-wood is one of the hardest European woods, and is fine-textured, regular, and suitable for very fine polishing. It’s used for a variety of wind instruments, in particular recorders.
