Torrefaktum started roasting beans and creating coffee blends in 2009. Today, the Hamburg-based company is one of the best coffee roasters in Germany – a well-deserved reputation resulting from the team’s quality awareness, painstakingness and sure instincts. It starts with the choice of green coffees: about 90 per cent bear the seal for organic farming. Experienced roasting masters blend them before roasting, and make no mistake about it; pre-roast blending is complex. That is why each blend has as a counterpart a particular roasting profile to ensure that the roasting process brings out the specific aroma of each provenance to the optimum. Torrefaktum opts for roasting in small batches at a maximum of 200 °C for 13 to 18 minutes. The result is worth paying attention to and, first and foremost, worth tasting: The entire palette of the multi-layered coffee aromas develops particularly well this way.
