The Organic Company Bath Towel

The Scandinavians are second to none when it comes to simple and highly functional design. The "The Organic Company" is a case in point. With simple things that might seem beyond improvement, like bath and kitchen towels, or kitchen aprons, they put the icing on the cake by adding a small but distinctive detail: sections of ribbon sewn on at regular intervals of approximately 10 cm. That creates loops which work like flexible hooks, so the end of the towel can be tucked in securely when one wraps the towel around the head or body.
With the ample surface created by the piqué or fishbone weave, the light cotton fabric absorbs lots of water but then dries off quickly.

In addition to good, functional design the Danish label "The Organic Company" is dedicated to a responsible interaction with the environment and judicious use of resources. The founder Joy Vasiljev ensures, the production uses solely cotton from controlled biological cultivation. Even the sewing thread, most often polyester or nylon, is made of cotton, like the fabric. Since 2010 she has had all her textiles certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The certification is awarded to companies using environmentally compatible materials for the manufacture and dyeing of the clothing, but moreover, the entire chain of production is checked in the certification process to make sure the employees are working under fair conditions. For the designs of "The Organic Company" Vasiljev collaborates with Danish textile designers. Furthermore, each model shows her eye for creating textiles with remarkably well thought out cutting patterns that one can enjoy and especially use for a long time.
