At a first glance the sturdy cotton twill looks like a flannel with which Nigel Cabourn has commissioned an English firm for work clothes to make these trousers. In fact, a pair of woolen suit pants from the 1940s provided the pattern for the striped fabric with the typical salt-and-pepper look. The rear waistband of the pants, which can be worn with suspenders or a belt, is cut high in keeping with the historical model.
