Murano Glass Bracelet Mexico
The bright colors of Central America.
People who travel through Mexico will realize the Mexicans' passion for bright colors. In many places you can see facades painted in bright blue, flaming red, deep green and shining yellow and the jewelry and clothes reflect their passion for fiery colors too. Mexico is colorful. As are these pieces of jewelry and they are called so for good reason. They are ideal for a (colorful) accentuated appearance.
For the necklace and the bracelet the colorful Murano glass beads (Ø 14 mm) have been drawn on jewelry wire. Both can be closed via two matted, gold plated silver rings (925 sterling silver), one of which can be opened. The necklace can be extended with the longer than normal bracelet.
Even today, the lagoon island of Murano, situated in front of Venice, is an important production site for the precious Venetian glass, which is a valuable export article. The colorful shimmering glass beads are made there according to the best artisan traditions. A small German jewelry workshop in the city of Pforzheim, which is, to the same extent, specialized in high-quality clasps, makes this exceptional Murano jewelry out of the Murano beads.
Shape, color and beauty of these beads are acquired by individual handwork under the flames. Due to its high proportion of aluminum oxide, the glass material used is nearly unbreakable. This is the only information that the manufacturers are prepared to provide. The composition of their parent material or the color formulas remain closely guarded secrets. The only aspect we can explain is the shimmering: broadly speaking, a fine gold or silver foil is laid over the bead blanks, which were separated beforehand from the glass rod and serve as a foundation for a further colored glass layer. For the so-called water-colored beads a copper-bearing powder mixture is added in a particularly complex process.
The island of Murano in the Venetian lagoon is still a center of production for precious items of glass. The shimmering colored glass beads created there in the best tradition of Venetian craftsmanship are fastened with high quality clasps from a Pforzheim jewellery workshop, which we then offer in two variants.
The beads garner their form, color and beauty by hand beneath the flame in a time consuming process. A raw bead separated from a glass rod is covered with a pure gold foil (for the colored beads) or, in an extremely elaborate process, a powder mixture containing copper is added for the so-called pastel colored beads – which is reflected in a certain difference in price.
