Manufactum Linen Fisherman’s Shirt
Article Number 86328
No stripes, (almost) no buttons – a real fisherman’s shirt.
Proper fishermen’s shirts are hard to come by nowadays. Therefore we’ve had this model made in the classic ‘Vareuse’ (shirt-blouse) style. These shirts used to be made of sailcloth, which would be a bit too heavy for today’s wearer, so we’ve used Belgian linen from Libeco for our fisherman’s shirt – in extra-heavy quality, though (210 g/sm). This shirt is comfortable and very simple in form, with an application, a slit and a turned one-piece collar. So as not to get caught on anything while you are working, fishermen’s shirts have been made without buttons or similar on the front. We’ve kept to this tradition by just having one single button on the inside of the slit that can be closed with a loop, and also on the inside, a breast pocket.
Linen from Flanders.
The linen used for this fisherman’s shirt comes from a traditional growing area: from Flanders. The raw material is long-fiber flax, which guarantees a homogeneous quality. The processing takes place locally: Libeco-Lagae in Meulebeke is a fully integrated business with over 150 years experience in the weaving from linen. They weave and finish this fisherman’s shirt, both in its natural undyed color and also piece dyed blue.
