Lamb’s Wool Poncho
Light but Warm. A Lamb’s Wool Poncho.
Originally common in Mexico and parts of South America, the poncho has achieved a widespread popularity here in Europe, especially because it’s exceedingly comfortable. Ours is made from the wool of Mongolian lambs which in addition to being warm, is almost softer than cashmere. The manufacturer is a fully integrated, south German firm, with their own carded yarn spinning works, weaving mill and finishing facility. It first weaves a plaid in twill weave from the unbleached and undyed lamb’s wool. This fabric is then mechanically roughened by machine in a traditional process with real thistles, producing a voluminous, fine and insulating soft fabric surface. The seam in the plaid makes it into a poncho. It can be washed gently by hand.
