Kreis Oxhide Belt
Article Number 79711
A monument of a belt.
The leather goods manufacturer Bernd Kreis in Offenbach makes this belt from a uniquely robust and durable English oxhide taken from the back, usually only used in the technical field. It is uncolored, vegetable tanned and 8 to 10 millimeters thick – no other leather has this strength and toughness. The edges of the belt are ground, fired and polished with gum arabic. The brass buckle is sand cast and silver plated. The year of manufacture is stamped in each belt. This thick belt needs ample belt loops.
Belts Made by Kreis Leather Manufacturers.
Founded in 1963 in Offenbach by Erich Kreis, the Hessian leather manufacturer Kreis became specialised in belts early on. The firm is run today by Bernd Kreis, the son of the founder. He uses only full-grained leather: classic box calf and traditionally pit-tanned cow leather from Germany, saddle leather from England and the legendary Shell Cordovan horse leather from the Horween® tannery in Chicago. Kreis is one of the very few manufacturers of hand-made leather belts which still cultivates the time-consuming art of triple layer belt construction.
