Belgian Linen Meets Lithuanian Weaving.
Two European regions well known for their flax cultivation and linen weaving are Belgium and Lithuania. These curtains can be seen as the happy marriage of two traditions: the fine linen comes from Belgium, while the expert weaving is done in Lithuania. This largest and southernmost of the three Baltic States enjoys a long and rich tradition of textile manufacturing. These days it is primarily smaller enterprises that focus on the highest-quality materials and design — as evidenced by the curtains made by this linen manufactory based in Vilnius. The weavers there maintain the traditional Lithuanian weaving traditions while developing them further, thus bringing together generations-old crafting knowledge with new design concepts, e.g., in collaboration with the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
The jacquard weave of these curtains features undyed linen in the warp and dyed linen in the weft, resulting in a richly coloured background that highlights the natural colour of the woven pattern of vines. These ready-made curtains are 145 cm wide and available in two lengths: 225 and 250 cm. The curtains come with a curtain tape that is 6 cm wide and a hem that is 15 cm wide.
