The Appeal of the Unapproachable. Fashion from Isabell de Hillerin.
Isabell de Hillerin is a native of Munich but has Romanian roots. While studying fashion in Barcelona, she discovered and developed a passion for traditional fabrics made of natural materials. For her graduation collection, she travelled to Romania in search of artisan weavers who still work according to traditional methods. She uses their fabrics to create sleek, contemporary and timeless fashion. The purist styles follow a design principle which, according to de Hillerin, accentuates the appeal of the unapproachable and distinctive elegance by disguising it. Passionate about detail, the designer succeeds in adding surprising new twists to classical garments. Today, the hand-woven fabrics for her fashion are sourced in Romania, Italy and also traditional weaving mills in Moldavia. By cooperating with workshops in these countries, Isabell de Hillerin offers local weavers new career opportunities.
