The three Aran Islands on the west coast of Ireland in the Bay of Galway are mainly known around the world for the extraordinary knitting skill of their inhabitants. Inis Meáin, pronounced Inisch Maan, is the island in the middle. In addition to the population of less than 200 it has been home to a knitting mill of the same name for several decades. It was founded in the 1960s by the industrious Dubliner Tarlach de Blacam and became the source of the island’s textile tradition revival.

Inis Meáin knits Flemish linen for this light sweater which can be worn like a long-sleeved t-shirt. For the linen fabric, the mill uses the famous „Donegal flecks“ wool technique involving the sprinkling of color introduced by weaving with colored fibers, . The result is a rare linen yarn that is not easy to work with which is plain knit for this form knit shirt, with a little rolled edge at the neck and hems.
