Hand-Forged Lift Latch
The grandfather of door handles.
This latch system has been used since the 14th century and is the forerunner of today’s door handle. By depressing the button on the pull handle the latch is opened by means of a simple, indestructible mechanism. When the latch falls into the hooks it makes that characteristic pleasant clinking sound. This one is hand forged in a landmark preservation workshop in Westphalia. We think it’s just the latch to replace that one on the garden gate or shed that is not half so handsome.
If it is installed outdoors, it is recommended to regularly apply some linseed oil or rust prophylactic.
