The bracelet is made of cultured pearls with a diameter of 6.5 – 7 mm. Clasp made of two solid, matted silver rings (925 sterling silver), one of which can be opened. Made in Pforzheim, Germany.

These matt lustrous necklaces made of freshwater pearls come from a Pforzheim jewelry workshop. The pearls have a diameter of 6.5 – 7 cm, the 925 sterling silver clasps are in the form of solid, matted rings, one of which can be opened. The bracelet can also be used to extend the length of the pearl necklace to 60 cm so it can be worn off the neck.

Astonishing luster. Pearl jewelry.

Why pearls are something very special for most people is not a question that can be answered scientifically. The delicate look, the spherical form, and the lustrous surface of the pearl – as well as the fact that the origin of this perfect shape is natural, give this piece of jewelry a value that exceeds the tangible value. Nowadays natural pearls develop in so-called pearl mussels in fresh water as well as salt water in which, through unexplained circumstances (astonishing in today's high-tech world), a concentrated development of nacre is prompted. Such pearls can rarely be found today.

Cultivation of nacre. Cultured pearls.

In 1921 in Japan Kokichi Mikimoto developed a modern cultivation process for saltwater pearls and acquired important experience for the cultivation of the Akoya pearl. From this experience not only the north-west Pacific region is benefitting, but also in Oceania dangerous pearl diving has been replaced by harvesting cultured pearls. We chose the jewelry from the large variety of pearls and pearl jewelry that is typical for the different types of pearls: the almost perfect rounding of the Akoya pearls, the bright, snow-white luster even of the comparatively small freshwater pearls, and the grandeur of the Tahiti cultured pearl.
