Fertiliser Pellets Made of Sheep's Wool
The Return of Old Knowledge. Fertiliser from Sheep's Wool. With a Water Storage Effect.
Old English gardening books describe it, and a recent Humboldt-University research project in Berlin picks up the idea of a "new type of ecological universal fertiliser". The organic fertiliser is made of rough, unwashed sheep's wool, user-friendly prepared in pellets for easy dosing and spreading. It is suitable for all gardening cultures and indoor plants because sheep's wool contains all the main nutrients as well as some of the trace elements. At 8.8 the pH value is relatively high so that the fertiliser is also good for upgrading acidic soil. It is also remarkable that because of the sponge effect (sheep's wool can absorb up to 3.5 times its weight in water) and the high component of organic material it contributes to the formation of humus and water storage capability. The fertiliser pellets loosen the ground and sustain the important soil fauna.
