Workmen’s Trousers with a New Job. From Work to Fashion
Everyone knows that the knees wear out before the other parts of the trouser leg. Jeans and chinos are then simply shortened to use as summer shorts, but what do you do with the boiler suits and workmen’s trousers of this world? Especially as commercial companies replace them almost as soon as they tear. Usually, the trousers legs are still intact. Daniel Kroh has found an answer to that: He repurposes workmen’s trousers by making them into handbags. Thoroughly cleaned, each pair of painter’s trousers shows the colourful traces of their first profession – and is unique. The trousers are therefore all quite different, while the width is determined by the original size of the trousers. They are sometimes more, sometimes less stained, sometimes more, sometimes less colourful. The fabric itself is sometimes white and sometimes grey in tone.
Used Work Clothes as a Fashion Concept. Fashion by Daniel Kroh.
Skilled Berlin tailor and fashion designer Daniel Kroh helps give new life to worn-out workwear. Whatever the world of work no longer needs, he puts to good use in his atelier. Everything is re-cut by hand. The hard-wearing fabric is naturally washed in advance, but without covering up signs of wear and tear. This is done on purpose because traces of the previous usage form part of the concept. This means that each piece is unique.
From Used Work Clothing to Fashion. Daniel Kroh.
The trained tailor and Berlin fashion designer Daniel Kroh breathes new life into decommissioned occupational clothing. He turns clothes which can no longer be used in the workplace into something new in his studio. The still serviceable sections of cloth are preliminarily washed and dyed without defacing their natural patina. The signs of wear belong to the design idea and every article of clothing finished by Daniel Kroh is unique. All vests and jackets are retailored by hand. A label inside refers to the former profession.
