Cultivated Tahitian Pearl Necklace

General Information
A Single Tahitian Pearl from Dark Mother-Of-Pearl.
The cultivated Tahitian pearls for this necklace come from the French-Polynesian island of Ahe, home for a French artist who has worked for years with pearls. The pearls originate from the "Te ufi" as the black-lipped pearl mussel or ’Pinctada margaritifera cumingii‘ is called on Ahe. The shell of the "Te ufi" mother-of-pearl is silver-grey, turning anthracite, smoky brown or black at the edge. A striking iridescent play of colour is typical for the single pearls (approx. 9 mm in diameter). The hues run the spectrum from overtones of green to red depending on the incidence and intensity of light. At 40.5 cm the delicate stainless steel circlet is designed in a way that the pearl lies precisely in the little depression between the collar bones. The delicacy of the circlet is such that the single pearl seems to hover on the neck. A finely worked bayonet clasp securely and discretely fastens the circlet.
