Corten® Steel Trellis
The Dortmund metalworking shop where these trellises are made can draw on 30 years of experience of collaboration with professional gardeners, landscape designers and architects. The material selected for the pillars is Corten® steel, an extremely durable, tough material usually employed in bridge construction or as façade component. The braces stabilise the framework of these trellises and provide a secure hold for luxuriously blooming plants climbing in all directions: climbing roses, wisteria, clematis – the list can be extended indefinitely.
The tooth of time. It is asked for: rust.
Corten® steel is initially bright rolled. In that condition, it may already show faint signs of weathering. However, the patina for which the material has become justly famous will accumulate over the course of months, if not years. The rust shines with an almost copper hue, beneath which the steel forms a barrier which stops any further corrosion. The growing patina will undergo changes due to the variations in the weather; a process which continues for up to three years before the patina is mature.
A reminder on delivery:
The Corten® steel trellis is delivered disassembled. The three side pieces must be fitted together and the separately ordered ground anchors must be assembled. The assembly material is included.
Please bear in mind:
As long as the patina-forming process has not been completed, we recommend that sensitive floor surfaces, like terrace tiles or light coloured stones be protected from stains which may develop from wetness and runoff moisture.
