Carl Dau Cufflinks

Precision and engineering.
Coming from the workshop of the Berlin jewelry and industrial designer Carl Dau, these Cufflinks not only look very technical, indeed they are made with precision elements and elements watchmakers use: The head is made of a stainless steel ball that used to be part of a precision ball bearing. First, it is cut into two parts, in which in one model a titanium plate and in the second model a circular blank sheet made of dark red Corian® is subsequently inserted. Contrary to most of the other cufflinks mechanics used, this mechanical system ensures that the circular base plate – which is very unusual – is always at a 90° angle to the ball mounting. They were intentionally designed for this purpose and appropriately cut springs from large clocks were inserted, that are strong enough to hold the bridge in the right position. The cufflinks are produced exclusively for Manufactum.
