Camera Strap Made of Harness Leather
A Camera Strap Hand Made in Hamburg.
Old pit-tanned leather, like that formerly used for bridles and harnesses, is back. The straps are cut from the centre of the back section, the so-called butt, where the leather fibres are at their finest and densest. For all its ruggedness the leather is still pliable, which is what one wants for this application. A tannery in northern Germany supplies the Hamburg manufacturer with the leather for our camera straps.
A padding made of soft elk leather protects the neck and shoulders so that even when one carries the camera over long distances, it will not become a burden. There are two ways of fastening the strap to the camera, depending on the camera model: with the rings made of spring steel or by feeding the narrow ends of the straps through the eyelets on the body of the camera. The straps can be opened and closed with the aid of brass snaps.
Harness leather needs little care. It will benefit from occasionally polishing with a woollen cloth. To find out about alternate camera strap lengths call our customer centre.
