An Almost Vanished Breed The Carpet Runner Rod.
There used to be two invariants for every decent staircase: the runner, mostly made of coconut fiber and the rod that holds it down. Today carpet runners are usually only found in more sumptuous surroundings, like great hotels, museums and libraries, much more seldom in private homes.
The famous firm of Pickhardt & Gerlach, with headqurters in the Sauerland since 1902 has been manufacturing them for decades. They are also one of the last to do so, in notable quality and material opulence.
That can be seen from the extraordinarily well polished, clean and evenly produced surfaces and by their weight.
Brass. Polished or nickel plated.
We offer solid stair runner rods (Ø 9 mm) made of brass, either polished or nickel-plated. They come in two lengths: 75 and 100 cm. Their length depends on the width of the runner. They should overlap each side by approximately 5 cm. You may choose between simple eyelets or clips with folding mechanisms. If the runner or the rod has to be cleaned, the latter can be opened without tools.
A note for ordering:
Rods for carpet runners may be ordered in other lengths or diameters from our special orders department, along with appropriate eyelets or angle eyelets.
