Braided Silver Necklace
Article Number 67250
The art of tradition. Timeless.
This milanaise-type necklace is made in the region of Idar-Oberstein, Germany, where the goldsmith's handcraft has a long tradition going back to the 17th century. This necklace has proven that such a tradition can also (or even more) produce timeless designs. Although the slightly flexible silver braid has a diameter of 10 mm, it does not look massive, but delicate and it is adequately completed by a simple matt silver bayonet fastening. Here the silver has not been rhodium-plated to enhance the natural surface luster of the silver.
Milanaise. Delicate texture.
Braided precious metal jewelry already featured in the Etruscan culture. The milanaise, thus the Milan braid, goes back to the medieval production of iron coats of mail. Wire spirals are wound and screwed one into another until you have a kind of flexible carpet. To make this necklace, the former flat braids are rolled to tubes.
As time goes by the non-rhodium-plated silver will tarnish. For cleaning, we recommend the silver care cloth or silver soap.
