General Information

A Colourful Remake.

This arresting goblet marks the transition from a handmade object to a piece of handicraft. This is a return engagement of sorts for the ceramic workshop in the Maria Laach monastery because the original was designed by Theodor Bogler, who directed the workshop until 1968. He was Bauhaus trained and brought with him the Bauhaus design vocabulary when he entered the monastery's workshop: this model is probably from the early 1960s. It displays simple proportions, but with the added touch of a reduced foot and agreeable shape, it makes for a very serviceable vessel. It's good for water, juice, buttermilk, tea and many other beverages. It holds almost 400 ml, and with its good insulation, it is suitable for hot or cold drinks. But in addition to its admirable functionality, the colour scheme is notable: on the outside, it shows a glaze in sky blue, like passing clouds, inside it is glazed in raspberry red and iridescent on the edges. It's a joy to look at and to contemplate its colour gradient – it may inspire to let the thoughts wander off in a daydream. The vessel is a true ornament and the proof for the stylistic confidence of Theodor Bogler.

This product is an example of genuine handicraft; therefore, minor deviations in size and colour may occur.
