Hand-forged. “Vexiers” from the USA.
“Vexier” is what connoisseurs call puzzles in which the aim is to manoeuvre one of the elements out of a number of linked parts (usually made of wire) and then put it back in its original place again. These impressive hand-forged heavyweights come from Tavern Puzzles in the USA, a company founded in 1975 by museum blacksmith Dennis Sucilsky. The production of such puzzles used to be a compulsory part of the training of apprentice blacksmiths. You will find here seven examples from the Tavern Puzzle Collection, which meanwhile comprises 27 types, classified in groups by degrees of difficulty, from “1” (simple) to “8” (very difficult). (Solutions are, of course included. Iron saws can be found in the Tool Section).
