2 Sheets of Florentine Paper, Fiorentina coloured
Article Number 79231
This Florentine tradition goes back to the Middle Ages: we’ve revived it in our current Christmas Catalogue (the paper’s in stock all the year round in our shops). The first variety, “Carta Tampone”, is the oldest, and was once used for book-binding. “Carta Varese” – named after the well-known shoe-making town – is printed with a relatively simple motif that was used for the outside covers of shoe-boxes, also for cupboards and drawers. Among the more modern versions of this Florentine art form are the “Carta Fiorentina” papers with floral motifs and gold print, and also the two Christmas motifs of mistletoe, and (a beautiful reference to early Christian tradition) fish.
