Real Rubber Boots.
The production of 'real' rubber boots was replaced in West Europe many years ago by automatic PVC spray technology. Real rubber boots and shoes, on the other hand, are made of pieces of rubber stuck together with liquid latex, formed round a boot last, and then reinforced at the heel and toe and vulcanized.
One feature of a hand-made rubber boot is that it is a good 20% lighter than a PVC boot. It remains supple down to -15°C (PVC simply breaks at such low temperatures), and keeps your feet warm (PVC doesn't!).
Bottes Le Chameau from France.
These hand-made rubber boots come from Pont d'Ouilly in Normandy. Le Chameau have been producing incomparable boots and shoes since 1927; materials – natural rubber for the outside, soft stretch jersey cotton for the inside. They are particularly popular in France with foresters and farmers who are outdoors in all weathers.
A nice fit for your lower leg on a country walk or expedition.
For when you're outdoors in the wet, this high boot made of real rubber follows the shape of your foot and is therefore exceptionally comfortable and suitable for long walks. It's soft, flexible and sturdy. It's fully lined with absorbent stretch jersey cotton. With adjusting strap at the top for perfect calf fit.
