Extremely sharp, blued blade; not stainless steel for reasons of durability, so should always be dried properly after use. Approx. 11 x 5 cm.
The »Rex« has been manufactured in Switzerland since 1947. The peeler has a U-shaped stainless steel band and a flexible blade head. One of the two struts is the sharpened blade, the other is used for support. Thumb and index finger fit neatly into the recesses on either side. The blade has a loop on the side for extracting blemishes.
The difference is a matter of ergonomics – you hold the Famos at right angles to the peeling line, but the Rex (from Switzerland) at the same angle. We recommend the Rex, with its sharper, broader blade, for quick peeling jobs – particularly with large potatoes or similar fruits or vegetables; but if you find yourself in the unhappy position of having to peel a whole sack of potatoes, the Famos is more the thing: it doesn’t have such a sharp blade as its Swiss counterpart, but you work it from the wrist, rather than the elbow and shoulder, which hurts less in the long run!
