Bamboo frame, shaft and grip. With wrist loop and nylon strings. Length 53.5 cm, width 27 cm. Weight 260 g.
We’ve been trying to work out for years some way of offering our customers a decent racquet to play beach tennis with. The problem was this: the usual frame is light, but cheap and nasty, and a quality frame of solid wood seemed to be too heavy. After looking around for some time we discovered ‘racquets’, a rather rare game played only in England, and the original ancestor of squash. It’s a much harder, faster game than squash, demanding a ‘racquet’ that is both extremely tough and extra light. Bamboo is the preferred material, combining lightness (260 g) and near-indestructability. It can also be re-strung. As balls we recommend our hollow or solid rubber balls: for sizes and colours see “Rubber Balls” and “Tennis Balls” opposite.
