In Aquitaine, in the vineyards and orchards of the Bordelais and Perigord, these baskets are used frequently as they are ideal containers for grapes and fruits. The simple baskets with their unmistakeable shape are an essential part of the harvest equipment. All the individual parts and the way they are connected to each other identify these baskets as work tools. The sides and base are made from solid, untreated pine, the handle is made from chestnut which is steamed and shaped.
