100% cotton. Classic shawl collar with belt, two patch pockets. Double velour, black on the outside, grey on the inside.
The Marks Pelle weaving mill, founded in 1883 in Kinnahult, a small town on the west coast of Sweden, has survived because it specialised. Its top quality curtain and furniture fabrics in individual designs and colours, have found their way onto cruise ships and into hotels - even into the castle at Örebro.
The double velour fabric is manufactured at Marks Pelle Vavaere using a complex weaving technique. The black and grey weft fibres, anchored into the ground fabric, are cut open alternately, one from the left side, one from the right, and »shorn« to produce velour. This, combined with double the material and double the amount of work, creates a double velour that has two differently coloured 'right' sides. This heavy (420 g/sqm) cotton velour is also used to make a dressing gown which you can tell at a glance is comfortable and snug. The weaving mill has been rewarded for its efforts with the »Utmärkt Svensk Form« (»Excellent Swedish Design«) award.
Machine wash at up to 40° C. Tumble-dry for a few minutes before hanging it up to raise the velour and to allow the coat to become beautifully soft.
