First produced in Germany in the 1960s when immensely popular, this ingenious device for peeling citrus fruit eventually ceased production despite its reputation. Using the projecting »tear blade«, peel a thin strip around the centre of the orange, then pass the flat wire loop under the peel and turn the fruit through 360°. Any remaining skin can be removed using the lightly polished knife.

This car is the absolute »Schuco classic«. It is equipped with steering wheel control, a differential and an extremely powerful clockwork drive. This racing car is driven via a spring motion with a key, and additionally through an independent axle, which winds the clockwork drive up by a friction gear. Open this tin and experience the pleasant, marzipan-like aroma. These practical all-purpose office and household glues have been made from potato starch since the 1920s, and one, an Italian product known as »Colla bianca solida per ufficio moderno«, has survived the test of time. A particularly welcome feature: the tin has a small tube in the middle which contains a brush for applying the glue.

Hand-made Torrone.
This soft torrone is made without artificial preservatives or sugar by a Sardinian firm that goes back nearly 120 years. It is made of mountain blossom honey and nuts (98 %), with egg-white and wafers added. The honey and egg-white are mixed and gently heated in copper vats for up to six hours. The nuts are then added. As the nougat cools, it is scooped out by hand, laid between wafers, sliced and packed.

Baked potatoes.
Taste the difference when potatoes are cooked in a clay pot. Soak the pot in water, fill it with unpeeled potatoes - preferably all the same size - and put it in a cold oven. Turn the temperature to 200° C and delicious potatoes are ready in 45 minutes. Add herbs and oil to taste.

From Offenbach. Leather goods by Kreis.
Since 1968, purse-maker master Kreis produces leather goods of the highest quality. This is a simple, almost purist briefcase made of black saddler leather in very fine workmanship. The clear corpus is accentuated by open-edged finishing. The lid is closed with two nickel-plated, brushed brass locks. All the seam endings are sewn up by hand. Vegetable tanned cowhide, no lining. 31 cm wide, 41 cm high, 7 cm deep, weight 1,5 kg. » see product details...

There are three materials involved here: A double knit, stout yarn made of worsted pure new wool (2xNm 28/2) is spun or rather plated with a cotton thread (Nm 34) – in order to enforce the structure and enhance the moisture transport – so that the soft cotton is located on the inside, where it comes in contact with the skin. The heavily strained parts of the socks – sole, heel and toe – are additionally strengthened with a felted merino wool thread. This felted wool sole is especially abrasion resistant, transports moisture really well and insulates perfectly against the cold. The toes are hand-looped. » see product details...

It is unlikely that you have yet had anything quite like this under your shoes. This mat made from strong zinc-coated wire mesh covered with extra tough coconut fibre comes from a coconut textile works in West-Germany. A rubber underlay makes it non-slip and the combination of fibres and wires traps the dirt from boots. The mat is 25 mm thick, length 58.5 cm, width 38.5 cm, weight 2.7 kg.

Devold Blaatrøie – from Norway.
The old-established Norwegian knitwear firm of Devold still today makes the famous 'blue pullover' (this is what Blaatrøie means in English!) on the same machines and using the same 'single-jersey-plating' process as they did a century ago. The outside of this all-round pullover is knitted from smooth virgin wool, making it hard-wearing and wind-proof. The inside is also of wool, but of a softer quality in order to keep in the warmth. » see product details...

From the Alsace.
Emey was founded in 1875 by E. Meyherhoff deep in the Alsace and has been manufacturing office equipment with bookbinding skills ever since.
Black cover with ivory compartments manufactured from heavy-duty card-board. The metal index tabs have inserts for paper labels sized 10 x 23 mm. The cardboard covers are bound with linen-covered paper.
