Alum stone is one of the most effective (and certainly cheapest) deodorants. Slightly dampened and spread over the skin, alum reliably prevents body odours.
Alum has an antiseptic, astringent and bactericidal effect. It is also useful for shaving - a good aftershave for wet shaving and a good preshave for electric shaving.
