Schröder Hand-Woven Belt
You can tell whether a belt has been hand-woven or machine-made by looking at the end. Whereas hand-woven belts are woven from the end to the buckle and stitched into the buckle mount, machine-made belts are held at both ends with overlapping seams. Cowhide. Material thickness 2.5 mm, 30 mm wide (no belt holes - the buckle prong can be pushed through at any point).

Schröder and Son.
Schröder and Son in Schleswig-Holstein have been manufacturing leather and leather products since 1796. The company was originally a bark tannery, which might well explain why the raw materials used are selected with a degree of care and attention rarely found in the industry today: only the best, vegetable tanned cattle shaft leather is used. The top layer of leather is barrel-dyed rather than simply sprayed as is more common today. The belt edges are thinner and have been shaped to give them a more elegant appearance.
