Slippers. Namely those of the »belgha« type - an Arab shoe with its typical folded heel cap. The shoe's shape, which is also known in France as a »babouche", differs by region; with this round cap, it is primarily worn by the Berbers in Southern Morocco.
Our belgha comes from Morocco too. It is hand-made in Casablanca and, unlike the traditional shoe with a sole which is tanned under the hot African sun until it is rock-hard, it has a flexible sole and a very soft section under the ball of the foot, which is cushioned with a 4 mm thick layer of latex. The uppers, made of 1.3 mm thick, chrome-tanned and barrel-dyed cowhide, are tumbled until as soft as glove leather; the sole made of thicker, vegetable-tanned cowhide has a flat rubber heel.
The shoe is fully lined with beige-coloured cowhide. But actually it is much more than just a slipper - it is so soft, smooth and light that it will become an indispensable companion, both for travel and at home.
