Genuine felt.

Felt is an ancient woollen cloth, at least 7000 years old. Fulling wool into felt precedes spinning and weaving and is a much simpler technique. Genuine felt is rare, but there are many artificial versions: waste products of polyacrylic fleece and other cheap synthetic materials. Genuine felt is made only from cow's hair and sheep's wool, whilst genuine wool felt is only made from pure wool. As far as appearance goes, there is no difference between felt and felt substitutes. The differences are revealed in the fire test (genuine felt does not burn, it just smoulders briefly) and in actual use. Genuine felt slippers provide theright climate for the foot.
They do not cause sweating or make the feet hot and they do not cool down rapidly on cold floors. In other words, felt is the ideal material for slippers.
Top-quality genuine sheep's wool felt costs around £ 28 per square metre - more than 20 times the price of the synthetic equivalent. Of course, this means that the finished products are more expensive, all the more so when they are made with as much care and attentionas at our manufacturer's in Southern Germany. The company claims to be the only felt manufacturer using material of this quality to make slippers. Only these slippers can be given the »pure new wool« symbol.
