The jacket is cut straight. It has patched pockets, a buttoned throat latch and piped buttonholes. There are two zip-up inner pockets and the jacket closes with real horn buttons and mother of pearl backing buttons. Weight 2.1 kg. Back length in size 38 = 98 cm.
Everything about this jacket is quite unusual. The skins come from Iceland, where they are also tanned. The furry side is shorn down to a hair length of 10 mm, for only that part of the fleece has the specific, dense, silky structure that is necessary for tailoring. In this case, only the larger pieces of skin are used, in order to have as few seams as possible on the finished jacket. These jackets are made in rural Westphalia. They come from a hunting clothes specialist who has been in business for generations. The workmanship is truly exquisite: the few seams are the only places that, after a few decades of use, might show some traces of wear. They are made with special care, double stitched (“quilted”), neatly trimmed and ribbonstrengthened. There is absolutely nothing one could possibly improve.
