The new generation of candle-lamps bear an unmistakable similarity to their waxen forbears! Actually, this sort of lamps has been around since the 1930s, when they were used as candle-substitutes in churches and chapels. They spread a soft, pleasant light, easy on the eye – you don’t need to “hide them under a bushel” or cover them with a shade. Our partners are a Swiss firm – the last manufacturer of these lamps left in Europe – and a specialist firm that produces for this traditional form of lighting new, unfussy nickel-plated steel holders and sockets. These form a harmonious whole with the slim tubular bulb and add to its character.
