Since 1920 the »Midgard« range of lamps has been manufactured in Auma in Germany. These lamps have exceptionally reliable working parts and, as with this angle poise, are in a class of their own compared to similar, cheaper products - as far as quality and finish are concerned. Two powerful springs integrated into the bottom and middle joints hold the frame in the desired position: the more horizontal the position, the tighter the springs become, maintaining the lamp's balance. This also takes the pressure off the joints and the adjustment screw does not have to be constantly re-tightened. All parts of this lamp are built to last:
the lamp arms are made of 12-mm square steel, and - given that the steel is 0.8 mm thick - are as good as indestructible. The joints and tilting parts are made of nickel-plated zinc, the base of cast aluminium. One of the most striking features is the toggle switch on the reflector with its characteristic »click« sound: like the butterfly nut it is also made from nickel-plated brass.
