The factory makes high-grade hand-blown glassware, consisting of a paper-thin layer of opaque glass, bonded between two layers of crystal glass. Hence, the products are highly transparent, yet opaque at the same time, and disperse the light evenly.
The matt silk, hand-blown opaque glass shades gives this lamp an even texture. The metal fittings are lacquered in white.
Lamps for use in bathrooms or other, equally difficult humid environments, are subject to very strict safety regulations. The IP ratings (Index of Protection) you find stated with the lamps indicate their level of resistance against solid particles (i.e. dust) in the first of the two digits and protection against humidity in the second digit. IP 44 indicates lamps which can be installed closer to water. IP 64 lamps are even suitable for outdoor installation.
