The chemical treatments that decent clothes have to put up with nowadays not only remove the offending spot (and some of the fabric as well!) but have a bad effect on the whole garment. Especially with good quality materials, both life-span and appearance suffer. We’d like to give you some simple suggestions to prolong the life of your fabrics, domestic or otherwise, and save you the trouble and expense of taking things to the (chemical) cleaners.
A few hours in the fresh air costs nothing and does woollen or cotton material any amount of good. Why don’t we use this method more often? Find a shady place out of doors, but out of the rain, and put something up where you can hang your clothes and give them an ‘air bath’. For example: our cast aluminium folding clothes bar. Its notches and holes can be used either to accommodate clothes hangers of various shapes and sizes, or (if you have two) to pull lines through and make a proper clothes-line – ideal for the balcony.
You can get rid of the dust and dirt in any garment by these simplest and least harmful of all methods – beating or brushing: with a clothes beater for stronger materials, or a brush for more delicate things. Do it out of doors – you’ll be amazed at the dust you create!
A sticky paper trap for clothes moths, effective and harmless to humans. The cardboard surface is prepared with pheromones, which attract the male moths. Traps like these have already been used with success in the textile industry and in museums. They have a highly specific action, attracting clothes moths only (no other species!), enabling you to make a precise plan of counter-attack. » to the product...
