The craft of brush-making has evolved over the centuries and with great skill tools were developed to deal with enormously differentiated forms and materials - and suddenly it seems there is next to nothing left of all this. We are trying to halt the loss a little by offering you a range of proper brushes and brooms for all types of work in and around your house. Each filling - always consisting of familiar natural materials - has been carefully chosen, since very different demands are made on the filling materials of brushes and brooms, depending on whether they are designed to scrub, brush, sweep, polish or paint. Incidentally, differentiated use of suitable plant and animal filling materials has continued in the production of technical brushes but for household use there is now practically nothing available but nylon.
Did you know that chamois leather, wetted and then very thoroughly wrung out, makes an excellent duster? It gets up every last bit of dust, holds it fast and lets you wash it all out. Genuine chamois leather, naturally treated – not chemically dyed leather strips or synthetic leather substitute – is almost a vanished art, but one man in Germany who still makes it is our tanner Jürgen Kolesch (whose workshop by the way also produces our famous leather trousers – see our Clothing Catalogue). The absorbent (and, of course, wringing-out) capacity of real chamois leather beats all substitutes hands down! Not only that, it lasts a life-time. So you can see our leather cloths as an investment, if you will. Please note: Due to the natural tanning process, the cloths give off a sight fluff-like deposit during their first use. This is quite normal.

The standard cleaning rag for floors. In Italy, this is the standard cleaning rag for washing floors. It is stocking stitch knitted with two sets of needles (looking like plain knit from both sides). This technique uses a tremendous amount of yarn and makes the rag especially strong and thick, enabling it to soak up the right amount of water for washing floors. » to the product...

Günter Leifheit brought the idea for his subsequently famous floor and
carpet sweeper back from the USA in 1957. He improved it by making it
slimmer (for use under wardrobes and beds), by adding retractable
handles and by making it easy to dismantle.
His »Leifheit-Rotaro«
was first made in 1960. We are marketing this original Leifheit, which
differs from all its many successors produced since by having sheet
steel housing, a proper wooden axle and a very strong natural bristle
filling. It runs on six wheels which drive the three rotating brushes.
The largest brush has four different height adjustments (depending on
floor). The two side brushes have spring suspension.
