Made of paper and card, assembly clips and two spare points included.
A small settlement - »Herrnhut«, literally meaning »under the Lord's watch« was founded in Eastern Saxony in 1722 as a refuge for a religious community of emigrants from Moravia, called the Moravian brethren. Subsequently, they called themselves the »Herrnhuter Brethren«. This community, whose members worked together and were divided into so-called »choirs« by age, gender and living conditions, had a substantial influence on Christian life in Germany. The Brethren still exist today in 22 countries, e.g. Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland. The custom of assembling a large star on the first sunday in advent and letting its light burn until Christmas arose in Herrnhut.
The Herrnhut advent or Christmas star is made up of 17 square and 8 triangular points, each of which has been put together by hand. The points can be assembled using simple clips, following the instructions included. The star can then be connected to a lamp or ceiling light (bulb max. 40 watt) - but even the without interior lighting the star looks impressive. When assembled, the star has a diameter of 60 cm.
